The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) employs 66 full time musicians, and currently performs a 40 week season. The Musicians are employees of the Calgary Philharmonic Society and receive a comprehensive health benefit package including dental, prescription, disability, massage and physiotherapy. Currently the base annual salary for the 14/15 season is $44,323 with a 10% pension contribution. The CPO partners with The Calgary Opera, Alberta Ballet and the Honenís International Piano Competition. Additional performance opportunities are available through an extensive Education and Outreach program. Currently the Orchestra operates without any debt, and has a sizable endowment fund.
Led by internationally renowned Music Director Roberto Minczuk, the CPO has been a cornerstone of Calgary's multi-faceted arts community since 1955 and is one of North America's finest and most versatile live music ensembles. From classical giants to rock and roll hits and family favorites, the CPO offers an average of 80 concerts per Season designed to fit all musical tastes. A repertoire that is extensive and broad in scope consistently attracts acclaimed guest artists and conductors.
